Aitch’s Next Issue Comic reviews week of 6/19/13

*AS ALWAYS BE MINDFUL THAT THERE WILL BE SLIGHT SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!**

** A few of my normal review elements are missing I know…but it’s a very busy day…but the meat of what i need to say it here!**

Batman and (Batgirl) 21

Wow…a very solid issue.  It’s another good book showing Batman’s reaction and fallout in dealing with Damien’s death.  He is pissed and on a rampage and Gotham knows it. There is no central villain in this book but Barbara is trying to finally step to Bruce and offer him solace in any way possible only to be shut out. What was cool was even when she offers to help Bruce and he calls her out on the Bat removal There is a lot of tension built up since Death of the Family and no one is spared.  A good issue all around.

Superior Spider-man 12

Wow, I know a lot of you will not admit to liking this book but ½ a year in and it’s still solid and we really see what Spidey-Ock is capable of in this story.  Trapped on the Raft with the supposed to have been executed Spider-Slayer, Vulture, and a few others including a still locked up Lizard. Spider-man goes on the offensive to bring them down and with JJJ’s blessing by any means possible and while you are at it, one of Spider-slayer’s cronies goes out with a BOOM. This is probably one of the darkest issues I have read since issue 6 and you can feel that Spider-man isn’t taking any prisoners in this. If you aren’t reading this, you don’t know what you are missing.

And saving the biggest for last…. **facepalm**

Age of Ultron 10

My patience with ‘big events’ came at an end with the end of this book.  Marvel, please tell me you guys aren’t serious?  This makes me wonder if people were more angry at this or angry with ASM 700. The book itself sans botched ending was ok and made me mad that this wasn’t told over the course of 2 books but on that same note this book was 5 issues too long as it was.  It felt rushed and then for all of this we get that somehow the 616 and Ultimates universe may eventually come together because the space time continuum was abused too many times?  That’s the best way to do this? I think the problem as I expressed yesterday is that there are too many ‘event books’ put out there for the cash grab and not enough time taken to tell some solid stories.  While I was good with the idea that AoU didn’t require a bunch of tie ins, the reduction of the issues and having this story MAKE SENSE would have gone a long way in making this event a success. heck I know that i didn’t bother to review a few of the issues because…well…NOTHING HAPPENED.  I would daresay that if Marvel just took a year off from doing these, I would be happy but for now. AoU #10 and the event as a whole, was a fail.
