Arlington Cemetery and other places in pictures

As I have said for years with this little bit of logic holding true, it’s amazing how we can live someplace and always want to do something without ever exploring what’s in our own backyard. Yesterday, I took advantage of the weather and took a trip to Arlington National Cemetery right over the DC line and in Virginia. It’s a place I don’t think anyone can say they haven’t heard of but until you see it you don’t understand how a place so busy with visitors can also be so peaceful. If you are ever in DC I would strongly recommend  taking the Metro line which has a stop near the entrance and also wear your best hiking shoes because if you plan on doing what I did, you will need them.  In short, I went through the cemetery hitting the major points like JFK and the Tomb of the Unknowns and then afterwards I walked from the cemetery to the Lincoln Memorial, the MLK memorial and then took a partial walk through the tidal basin to see the cherry blossoms.  Here are the results of my walk:
